MEET OUR GOVERNING BOARD

Our five member Governing Board has a strategic plan that emphasizes community involvement, enhancement of the basic skills in all core subject areas, and the development of a high school graduate who will yearn for life-long learning.

The Board, as your community representatives dedicated to the education of our children, values your input into the decision-making process. Please feel free to attend our regularly scheduled Board meetings. You can check the district calendar and agendas for further information and meeting times.

MISSION
Our Governing Board’s Mission is to provide each student with an educational foundation, empowering them with experiences and values to develop into unique individuals with the ability to achieve their dreams in our rapidly changing world.

Award Winning Board

FUSD Governing Board Earns Total Boardsmanship Award

On Thursday, December 15, 2011, the Florence Unified School District Governing Board received the Total Board Boardsmanship Award at the Arizona School Boards Association Annual Conference. The award honors commitment to professional development, and is earned by the board when at least a quorum of members has attained the level of a Certificate of Boardsmanship, with the remainder having earned the Certificate of Orientation to Boardsmanship. Although very few district boards earn this level of recognition, FUSD continues a tradition of excellence, adding this year’s plaque to their collection, including Boardsmanship Awards earned in 2000, 2007 and 2009.

"On behalf of the Florence Unified School District #1 Board of Trustees, I would like to welcome you. Our board is composed of five Board Members elected by the voters of the district. Each of us serves a two or four-year term without pay. One of our main responsibilities is to establish policies for the district; we keep that in mind as we support Dr. Nine's recommendations in his quest for our district to excel. We are committed to the success of our children and know we can truly become #1, one step at a time. We are honored to partner with our community in our journey to success."
