I’m Gary Nine and it is a pleasure to welcome you to our District.  My job, as Superintendent, is to meet the challenge of providing a great education for each and every student in the District.

My motto and our District’s vision is “KIDS FIRST”. Please check it out under District Vision. “KIDS FIRST” provides the foundation for decision-making for FUSD’s principals, faculty, staff, and administrators.

This will be a great year for FUSD.  Our schools are safe, well led, staffed with highly qualified and caring teachers and assistants.  Our curriculum is organized, our technology exceptional, and when you visit our schools you’ll be impressed by exceptionally positive learning environments and the sense of “calm” you will feel.

We have experienced, trustworthy leaders as principals and they all lead to our “KIDS FIRST” vision.  One of our foundational precepts is to treat each child as if they were our own, and we strive daily to do just that!

All parents that I know desire that their children leave school with skills and attributes that will insure their future success.  Whether it be reading, math, writing, or calculus and economics, our education system is designed to specifically discover and remediate weaknesses while at the same time challenging the potential of our best and brightest. 

Thanks to our community and our Board’s vision, technologically we are superior to the vast majority of school districts in Arizona.  In every K-8 classroom there are 8 student computers, while at the high school level every student is issued a “netbook” (small laptop).  Additionally, there are interactive whiteboards, projectors, and document cameras in each classroom.  Best of all, our teachers know how to use them. 

FUSD has a quality, visionary, cohesive, and effective Board, administration, and staff.  We strive to earn your trust daily.  If we mess up, we will tell you we did and then fix the problem.  This year in seven K-8 schools, two high schools, an alternative school, a virtual school, and a special needs school we have 1,000 caring, hard-working, and qualified certified and classified staff members all dedicated to KIDS. 

Together, we can forge a true partnership between parents, students, faculty, staff and administration.
